Beyond Design

ASGCA is actively involved in several issues related to the game of golf, including responsible environmental designs. ASGCA members proactively design courses that are environmentally friendly and promote wildlife development. In addition, many courses are certified by the Audubon Society of New York as wildlife sanctuaries.

ASGCA has several committees to address issues related to the challenges of golf course design including:

Environmental Committee: Actively researches and promotes golf course design principles that follow sound environmental projects. The committee’s publication, An Environmental Approach to Golf Course Development, has won wide acclaim within the golf industry as well as the general public.

Foundation Committee: Collects and distributes funds for a variety of research projects.

Professional Development Committee: Organizes seminars at the Society’s annual meeting and has developed a limited form of certification for course architects.

Awards Committee: Initiated an annual Donald Ross Award for the person who has made outstanding contributions to the game of golf and golf course architecture.
